Why printers have a waste ink pad
An inkjet printer regularly cleans its print head to stop it drying out. The ink used for cleaning drains into a tank with an absorbent pad (the ink absorber). The printer keeps track of how much ink it has sent there, and once its calculation says the limit has been reached, it stops printing as a safety measure. This usually happens after 2–3 years, depending on how much you print and how often you run nozzle cleaning.
How we do the repair
We take the printer apart, remove the tank and pad and thoroughly clean out the ink (on some models we replace the pad). Once it's reassembled, we reset the counter with a service tool – otherwise the printer wouldn't know it had been cleaned and would keep showing the error. Finally, we test the printer with a print run.
Why you shouldn't put it off
Resetting the counter without cleaning the tank only postpones the problem. An overfilled pad can overflow, and the ink will then stain the inside of the printer and the desk underneath. If your printer is already warning that the pad is nearing the end of its life, now is the ideal time for a service.

Your questions answered
Can't you just reset the counter?
We don't recommend it. The printer would keep printing, but into a pad that's already full. Ink could then leak into the printer and onto the surface beneath it. That's why we always clean the tank first and only then reset the counter.
Is it worth it for a cheap printer?
Usually, yes. You know the price upfront, and for mid-range and high-end printers the service costs far less than a new printer. For the cheapest models, we'll tell you honestly whether the repair makes sense.
Which brands do you work on?
Mostly Epson and Canon, but we also clean waste ink pads in HP and Brother printers. If you're not sure, send us the exact model from the rating label.
Is courier pickup from anywhere in Czechia really free?
Yes. We collect your device and send it back to you free of charge. You only pay for diagnostics (890 CZK) if the device can't be repaired or you decline the repair.
How much does diagnostics cost?
