What to do straight away
Switch the laptop off immediately by holding down the power button, then unplug the charger and all connected devices. If the battery is removable, take it out. Don't turn the laptop on to test it and don't dry it with a hairdryer. The sooner it gets to us, the better the chance of saving it.
What happens inside a laptop after a spill
Liquid can short-circuit the motherboard and damage the keyboard, touchpad, display and connectors. Even if the laptop works once it has dried, liquid residue (especially from sugary drinks and mineral water) keeps corroding the connections, and faults can appear days or even weeks later.
Is a repair worth it?
It depends on the extent of the damage and the value of the laptop. After diagnostics, we'll tell you what's damaged and how much the repair will cost, and we'll only start once you agree. If the repair isn't worth it, we'll at least recover your data.

Your questions answered
Will putting the laptop in rice help?
No. Rice won't draw the liquid out of the motherboard, and the residue keeps corroding it. You'll only lose time, which is the most valuable thing after a spill.
Can I claim the repair on my insurance?
If you have suitable insurance, we'll prepare the paperwork for your insurer as part of the diagnostics at no extra charge.
Is courier pickup from anywhere in Czechia really free?
Yes. We collect your device and send it back to you free of charge. You only pay for diagnostics (890 CZK) if the device can't be repaired or you decline the repair.
How much does diagnostics cost?
If we carry out the repair, diagnostics is free. If the device can't be repaired or you decline the repair, we charge 890 CZK for the time we've spent on it.
