Before you send it in, try this

Try a different adapter and a different socket. Unplug all USB devices. Hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain any residual charge, then try again. If the laptop shows no picture, connect an external monitor – the problem may be the display, not the motherboard.

How we track down the cause

We test step by step: is power coming from the adapter, is the battery charging, do the individual supply voltages come up, do the processor and memory start? That's how we pinpoint the specific faulty component. Only once we're sure of the diagnosis do we send you a repair quote.

We repair the component, not replace the whole board

We fix most faults by replacing the specific chip, capacitor or connector right on the board. It's cheaper than a new motherboard, which often isn't even available for older models. A so-called reflow – heating up the chip – only helps temporarily, so we don't offer it as a repair.

What about your data?

When we repair a motherboard, your data stays on the drive. In MacBooks with Apple Silicon or the T2 chip, and in many ultrabooks, the storage is soldered to the board and encrypted. The data can then only be accessed once the board boots again. That's another reason why it pays to repair the board rather than replace it.

How much does a motherboard repair cost?

The price shown above is a starting price. We'll set the exact price after diagnostics, depending on which component has failed. We'll send it to you for approval and never carry out any repair without your consent.

Is it worth repairing an older laptop?

If its performance is still enough for you, usually yes. If the repair would cost more than the laptop is worth, we'll tell you and help you recover your data.

Do you repair MacBooks too?

Yes, both MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, including models with Apple Silicon chips. With these, a motherboard repair is often the only way to get your data back.

My laptop won't turn on after a spill. What now?

Don't turn it on or charge it. Corrosion on the board continues even when it's switched off, so send it in as soon as possible.

Is courier pickup from anywhere in Czechia really free?

Yes. We collect your device and send it back to you free of charge. You only pay for diagnostics (890 CZK) if the device can't be repaired or you decline the repair.

How much does diagnostics cost?

If we carry out the repair, diagnostics is free. If the device can't be repaired or you decline the repair, we charge 890 CZK for the time we've spent on it.
