Laptop overheating and shutting itself down? Here's what to do!

Updated 17 July 2022 · 1 min read · FIXERS repair service

If your laptop sometimes gets so hot you can barely keep your hands on it, and even shuts itself down when it does, don't take it lightly.

The most likely culprit is a clogged laptop cooling system. Over time, a thick carpet of dust and dirt drawn in from outside builds up inside, which then stops warm air from escaping the laptop. In that case, the laptop needs cleaning. You'll make it quieter and cooler, it will stop shutting down by itself and, above all, you can extend its life by several years. You can do a basic clean yourself without having to take the laptop apart. Here's our article explaining how.

Random shutdowns can also be caused by a fault in the power circuits of the laptop's motherboard. But don't lose heart – we can repair even a component as sophisticated as the motherboard. Just bring your laptop to us for diagnostics, or use our free courier pickup from anywhere in Czechia.
