How to check your battery's health

In Windows, open Command Prompt and type powercfg /batteryreport. This creates a report where you can compare the original capacity (Design Capacity) with the current one (Full Charge Capacity) and see the cycle count. On a Mac, go to System Settings → Battery; when the battery is worn, it will show “Service Recommended”. Once the current capacity drops below roughly 70–80% of the original, you'll notice the shorter battery life.

Swollen battery: stop using the laptop

If the battery is lifting the touchpad, keyboard or bottom cover, don't charge it and switch the laptop off. A swollen cell must never be punctured or squeezed – it could leak gas and catch fire. Pack the laptop so that nothing presses on the cover and send it to us. A swelling battery also often damages the touchpad or motherboard.

How we do the replacement

In most laptops the battery sits inside under the bottom cover and is screwed in. In some ultrabooks and MacBooks it's glued in and has to be removed carefully using adhesive solvent so the cell isn't damaged. After the replacement we check charging, calibration and temperature, and we hand the old cells over for recycling.

How to look after your battery

Batteries are mainly damaged by heat and by being kept at 100% for long periods. If your laptop is plugged in most of the time, turn on the 80% charge limit in the manufacturer's app (Lenovo Vantage, Dell Power Manager, MyASUS, or Optimised Battery Charging on a Mac). Don't leave your laptop on a duvet or in direct sunlight.

Do you use original batteries?

Depending on the model and availability, we offer an original part or a quality compatible battery with certified cells. The price you see upfront tells you exactly which part you'll get.

Is it worth replacing the battery in an older laptop?

Usually yes, as long as the laptop is still powerful enough for you. A new battery costs a fraction of a new laptop. If it's also slow, consider upgrading the drive to an SSD at the same time.

Will I lose my data?

No, replacing the battery doesn't touch the drive or the operating system. We always recommend a backup, but this repair doesn't erase any data.

My laptop won't charge – is it the battery?

Not necessarily. A faulty adapter, cable, power connector or charging circuit on the motherboard shows the same symptoms. During diagnostics we find out exactly what has failed, and only then suggest a repair.

Is courier pickup from anywhere in Czechia really free?

Yes. We collect your device and send it back to you free of charge. You only pay for diagnostics (890 CZK) if the device can't be repaired or you decline the repair.

How much does diagnostics cost?

If we carry out the repair, diagnostics is free. If the device can't be repaired or you decline the repair, we charge 890 CZK for the time we've spent on it.
