Good to know

Which drive suits your computer

Older laptops have 2.5" SATA drives – these can be replaced with an SSD of the same size, with speeds of around 550 MB/s. Newer ones have an M.2 slot. Note that M.2 doesn't automatically mean NVMe: both SATA and NVMe drives fit the slot, and not every slot supports both. NVMe drives reach 3 500 to 7 000 MB/s. We'll check what the slot supports for your model and recommend a drive.

System transfer or clean install?

If your old system is in good shape, we'll move it to the new drive in full, including programs and settings. If it's cluttered or infected, we'll recommend a clean install and data transfer. Cloning a drive that's already reporting errors is risky – with those, we recover the data first.

What happens to your old drive

We'll give your old drive back to you. You can use it as a backup in an external enclosure. If you don't want it, we'll securely wipe the data on it.

When an SSD isn't enough

If your computer has little RAM (under 8 GB) or a very old processor, the speed-up will be smaller. We'll tell you in advance so the repair is worth your while.

FAQ

Your questions answered

Will I lose my data and programs?

No. If we clone your system, everything stays exactly as it was. With a clean install, we transfer your files and you reinstall your programs yourself.

What size drive should I choose?

500 GB is enough for everyday use. For photos, videos or games, we recommend 1 TB. Always leave some headroom – an SSD runs fastest when it isn't completely full.

Will my Windows licence still work on the new drive?

Yes. On most computers, the Windows 10 and 11 licence is tied to the hardware and activates automatically after the drive is replaced.

Do you replace drives in MacBooks too?

Yes, on older MacBooks where the drive is replaceable. Newer MacBooks have storage soldered to the board, so the drive can't be replaced.

Is courier pickup from anywhere in Czechia really free?

Yes. We collect your device and send it back to you free of charge. You only pay for diagnostics (890 CZK) if the device can't be repaired or you decline the repair.

How much does diagnostics cost?

If we carry out the repair, diagnostics is free. If the device can't be repaired or you decline the repair, we charge 890 CZK for the time we've spent on it.
