Water doesn't destroy everything in your phone straight away – most of the damage is caused by electrical current and corrosion, which carries on even after the phone has dried out. The sooner we get to the board, the better the chance of repairing it and recovering your data.

What to do straight away

If the phone is still on, switch it off and don't turn it back on. Don't charge it – Apple recommends waiting at least 5 hours, but with a water-damaged phone it's better not to charge it at all. Remove the SIM card, dry the outside and leave the phone lying with the port facing down. Don't use a hairdryer on it and don't put it in rice: rice won't draw out moisture from inside, and dust and starch get into the ports.

Why you shouldn't wait for it to dry out

Water carries minerals and salts. On a powered board, they cause short circuits and corrosion, which continues even when the phone is switched off. A phone that “works again” after drying out often dies for good a few weeks later. Salt water, sugary drinks and coffee are even worse.

How we do the repair

We take the phone apart, disconnect the battery and clean water and corrosion residue off the board with a cleaning solution. Then we test the power circuits and check the screen, ports and other parts. Our first priority is getting the phone to boot so you can access your data. We'll send you the results and the price of any further repairs for your approval.

Water resistance doesn't last forever

IP67 or IP68 ratings apply to a brand-new phone and fresh water. Seals age over time, and their properties change after a drop or after a screen or battery replacement. Manufacturers don't cover water damage under warranty.

Your questions answered

Can you recover data from a water-damaged phone?

In most cases, yes, as long as we get the phone soon enough. Your data is stored in memory on the logic board, so our priority is to clean the board and get it working again. An encrypted phone has to boot up – the data can't simply be read off it.

How much does water damage repair cost?

The price shown above is for water damage cleaning. If other parts need replacing, such as the screen or battery, we'll send you the prices to approve first. We never carry out a repair without your consent.

My phone works again now it's dry. Should I still bring it in?

We recommend it, especially after contact with salt water or sugary drinks. Corrosion on the board shows up later, and cleaning it early costs less than repairing the board down the line.

Do you also repair water-damaged tablets?

Is courier pickup from anywhere in Czechia really free?

Yes. We collect your device and send it back to you free of charge. You only pay for diagnostics (890 CZK) if the device can't be repaired or you decline the repair.

How much does diagnostics cost?

If we carry out the repair, diagnostics is free. If the device can't be repaired or you decline the repair, we charge 890 CZK for the time we've spent on it.
