Phone or tablet not charging – charging port repair

You plug a cable into your charging port up to several times a day, and pocket dust gets into it. When a phone or tablet stops charging, cleaning the port is often enough; other times it needs replacing. We'll find the cause and fix it.

Rule out the charger first

Try a different cable and a different adapter, ideally original ones. If your phone supports wireless charging, put it on a charging pad: if it charges wirelessly, the battery is fine and the problem lies in the port or the cable. On iPhones and many Android phones, charging pauses at 80% when connected for a long time – that's battery optimisation, not a fault.

Dust and lint in the port

The most common cause is compacted dust and pocket lint at the bottom of the port. The cable then can't go all the way in and doesn't touch the contacts. We remove the debris safely without damaging the pins. Don't poke metal objects into the port at home – you can easily bend or short-circuit the contacts.

Port replacement and the charging circuit

If the contacts are bent or corroded, or the connector is loose, we replace it. On iPhones and many other phones the connector sits on a separate flex cable; on others it's soldered to the board. If the phone won't charge even with a new connector or wirelessly, the charging chip on the board is usually faulty – and we repair that too.

Lightning and USB-C

iPhone models up to the 14 series have a Lightning port, while the iPhone 15 and newer, and almost all Android phones and tablets, use USB-C. A USB-C port has a thin tongue with contacts in the middle, which breaks easily if the cable is forced in. If the tongue is broken, stop charging the phone and send it to us.

How much does the repair cost?

If the port just needs cleaning, the repair is inexpensive. You can see the charging port replacement prices for each model below. We'll confirm the exact price after diagnostics.

Will I lose my data?

No, repairing the charging port doesn't touch your data.

My phone charges, but very slowly. What can I do?

Try a different, more powerful adapter and a different cable. Slow charging can also be caused by a worn battery or dirt in the port – we'll check both during diagnostics.

Is courier pickup from anywhere in Czechia really free?

Yes. We collect your device and send it back to you free of charge. You only pay for diagnostics (890 CZK) if the device can't be repaired or you decline the repair.

How much does diagnostics cost?

If we carry out the repair, diagnostics is free. If the device can't be repaired or you decline the repair, we charge 890 CZK for the time we've spent on it.
