What you should know about Dell repairs
Swollen battery in the XPS
On older XPS 15 models (9550, 9560, 9570), the battery can swell so much that it pushes the touchpad up from below or bends the bottom cover. Don't charge the laptop in this state – send it in for a battery replacement. A swollen cell must never be punctured or squeezed.
What the flashing lights mean
When a Dell won't start up, the battery light flashes a code: a number of amber flashes followed by white ones. For example, 2 amber and 3 white indicate a memory problem, 2 and 7 the display, and 3 and 1 the BIOS battery. Please include the code in your order – it speeds up diagnostics. You can run the built-in hardware test by pressing F12 at startup.
Battery care
You can set the charging mode in the Dell Power Manager app (or in the BIOS). Primarily AC mode is for a laptop that's plugged into the adapter most of the time – it never charges the battery to 100%. In Custom mode, you set the charging limits yourself.
New names and repairability
In 2025 Dell replaced the Inspiron, Latitude and XPS names with Dell, Dell Pro and Dell Pro Max, then brought XPS back in 2026. Dell publishes its service manuals and part replacement guides, so we know how to take your laptop apart carefully. On newer XPS models, the memory is soldered to the motherboard.

Your questions answered
Do you repair business Latitude and Vostro laptops?
Yes. If your laptop is still covered by ProSupport with on-site repair, use that. Once the warranty has expired, we'll repair it at our workshop.
Do you replace XPS batteries?
Yes, swollen ones too. When replacing the battery, we also check the touchpad and bottom cover, which a swollen battery may have damaged.
My laptop says the charger isn't original. Is it faulty?
Dell checks the charger and may limit charging with a non-original one. If the message appears even with the original charger, the cause is usually a faulty connector or cable.
How long does a repair take?
Standard repairs usually take 1–3 working days; if a part needs ordering, it depends on its delivery.
Is courier pickup from anywhere in Czechia really free?
Yes. We collect your device and send it back to you free of charge. You only pay for diagnostics (890 CZK) if the device can't be repaired or you decline the repair.
How much does diagnostics cost?
If we carry out the repair, diagnostics is free. If the device can't be repaired or you decline the repair, we charge 890 CZK for the time we've spent on it.
